Ivanhoé Cambridge has developed 2/3 of the property, with Property Development Group developing the remaining 1/3. Under the current concept, approximately 2 million square feet of retail, office, entertainment, and other uses would be developed in two projects. Ivanhoé Cambridge’s part of the project would comprise of 1.4 million square feet as a destination retail and entertainment centre which is named “Tsawwassen Mills.” Property Development Group will develop a further 600,000 square feet as an outdoor retail space and mixed use. Named “Tsawwassen Commons,” it will be similar to destination retail neighborhood centres they are developing in other parts of Canada.
The development of TFN’s commercial lands will generate significant employment opportunities. It is estimated that the development will create up to 3500 construction, retail, and property management positions. There will also be indirect opportunities with tenants, either as employees or potential franchise operators. This project will also provide relevant job and small business opportunities for TFN Members.
TFN’s Commercial Lands are well located due to excellent exposure along Highway 17, close proximity to BC Ferries Tsawwassen Terminal, and access to major highway networks. Reinforced by its strategic geographic location that provides good transportation links and a substantial population base, growing and established businesses alike will find a stable and friendly economic environment which to operate.
